Schizophrenia. Schitzophrenia
What is Schizophernia?
Schizophrenia is defined as
brain disease that can be chronic, severe, and cause high degree of disability.
Plainly said schizophrenia distorts the senses of the patient, making it very
difficult for the person to tell what is real from what is not real.
Schizophrenia is not limited to any boundaries, sex, races, cultures or social
classes it is found worldwide. As per
estimates about 1% of the population develops schizophrenia during their
life. In a given year around 2 million Americans suffer from schizophrenia.
Schitzophrenia usually affects male and female population equally. However, the
disease is often seen earlier in life in men (in the late teens or early
twenties), than in women (women generally get the disease in twenties to early
thirties).
Schizophrenia can run in families, but this does not
means that one should not marry and have children. Medication or treatment for schizophrenia when
taken in the order as prescribed
reduces and controls many symptoms, but most people with
continue to suffer some symptoms throughout their lives. Schitzophrenia or
Schizofrenie
Schizophrenia Treatmet:
It is not possible to
tell in advance as to which medication will work the best for an individual.
Drug adjustments may be required. One of the stated
reasons for this is that patient prematurely discontinue treatment if any
unpleasant side effects start to appear on account of medicine intake. Side
effects can be in the form of dry mouth, stiffness, drowsiness, restlessness,
etc. It is
found that only one in five suffers fully recovers. Even if the treatment is
effective social stigma, residual symptoms, and medication side effects – may
get to trouble the patient.
Schitzophrenia Symptoms:
- The first schizophrenia symptoms are confusing and shocking changes in
behavior.
- Symptoms of schizophrenia include
hearing internal voices which other people don't hear.
- There is a loss or lack of emotion, interest and motivation.
- The patient cries over a joke or may laugh in a sad situation or may be
unable to show any emotions.
- Sufferers believe that other people are trying to
read their minds or control their thoughts.
- One prominent symptoms of schizophrenia is that they feel someone is plotting to
kill or harm them.
Such symptoms leave the sufferer in a fearful and withdrawn state.
- Other symptoms which are seen include social unusual speech, thinking,
isolation or withdrawal, behavioral changes.
- Frequency of symptoms is different in different people. Some patients
only have one such abnormal episode others may continue to have episodes
during their lifetime.
As with any illness, recovery from schizophrenia, requires patience and
treatment should be complemented or aided with a proper well balanced diet,
adequate sleep, and regular exercise schedule. Suffers having chronic
schizofrenie often do not fully recover to normal
functioning and require prolonged treatment therapy, which are generally
intended to reduce or control the symptoms of schizophernia. Patients do lead normal lives
during the interim periods when there are no symptoms.
