| "no repercussions for men"--While I know that this virus may have more likely
complications for women, my realization of this virus in my body has been the
most shocking, upsetting news that caught me completely off gaurd. I too OBSESS
that this will lead to penis cancer...cut my penis off and you may as well cut
my head off because I wouldn't be interested in sticking around too long.
That's what I think about all day. I also have a wife and it weighs on me
heavily that she may have complications. I worry about her more than she does.
I don't know if I will ever be able to look at this virus in a realistic
way....I'm obsessed with it. It has altered my entire life and my frame of
mind. I don't even feel like the same person anymore. This virus is tough on
all of us. My heart does go out to all the females who may have more to go
through. But I always feel I have shit luck..if anyone will get hit with penis
cancer, I figure it could be me. I have just been diagnosed, Mark, so I know my thoughts are subejctive right now, but I have read that most people can build an immunity to HPV and it can go away on its own. I have the 1 of 70 forms of it that have cause abnormal pre-cancerous cells on my cervix. I am not familiar with the low risk forms (i.e. genital warts). Also, all of the sights I have been going on have been mostly about HPV and females, it rarely says much about men. I feel bad for you, because I know the outlook is very casual towards men HPV. When I had genital warts, it did "get worst before it got better." I did
notice the warts get more active during "my time of the month", but it wasn't
too different from what was already there. Usually, what a virus does is it
begins small with the onset of initial symptoms, then the virus becomes
full-blown, and then it tapers-off. This pattern seems to apply to all viruses,
for instance you notice this with the flu virus, colds, etc. Genital warts
spread rapidly and doctors treatments oftentimes are not enough to keep them
from doing so, unless one goes in immediately after finding the initial wart.
Basically, the virus does what it wants and goes away once the body sees this
"foreign" bugger and says, "Ok, you've over-stayed your welcome." From then on,
symptoms become repressed and your skin will return to normal. I have been
clear for over six months, but it took at least nine months for the warts to
clear after contracting it back in Oct. 2003. I thought it was never going to
go away and now I can tell all you, worried people out there, that it does go
away. I mean, the virus is still there, but the warts shouldn't come back
anytime soon. My boyfriend had GW before we started dating a year ago and I
have never had any recurrances from our skin touching down there. Lets face it,
HPV is a very confusing thing and the
