I usually try to tell them in a casual way, after I've gone out with them a few
times and i think that there is a possibility it may go to the next level. This
is going to sound stupid but I kind of study the person and test them by
bringing up topics such as stds and sex and stuff like that just as casual
conversation and I watch how they respond and act, if they act all grossed out
and immature about it I won't tell them because most likely you will end up
getting hurt. but if they don't and they seem like a mature person I'll tell
them. I'll usually say something like "well, i have an std, it's called hpv."
I'll tell them that it's very very common. I usually say that most people who
have don't even know that they have it. (at least that's what my dr. told me)
I'll let them know that when I do decide to have sex that I just have the guy
wear a condom. usually they will ask questions and I answer them to the best of
my knowledge. Make sure you distinguish it from herpes though, I've noticed
sometimes people mistake it with herpes at first when they hear HPV. And like I
said I just try to put off that it's really not that big of a deal, because you
know what it's not, there is so much worse stuff out there. I'm not going to
let a little 'skin virus' tear me down. I hope that everything turns out the
way that you want it to. And remember to take your time in telling her. hope i
helped. Several months ago I saw my doctor because of a suspicious spot on my
penis, and he said it could be HPV, but wasn't convinced. Today I went back,
and there were a couple of small warts that he froze off. On the one hand I
guess I'm glad to know for sure. But now I'm worried about meeting someone that
will accept that aspect of me. I've heard people say it's easier to date
someone who also has it, but that's not exactly a question you just come right
out and ask someone, you know.
